Gastritis

Frequently, gastritis leads to massive upper GI hemorrhage. In most uncomplicated cases, gastritis can be handled medically. All gastric irritants should be eliminated; the common ones include aspirin, alcohol, ibuprofen. and excessive caffeine intake. Smoking is contraindicated (see also GASTROINTESTINAL BLEEDING, above).
