Hypothermia

Posted by admin on November 18th, 2009

Immediately after a prolonged operation, the patient’s temperature may be in the 32.2° to 34.4° C (90° to 94° F) range. Any further reduction should be prevented because bradycardia, cardiac Ir¬regularity, and cardiac arrest could occur in the 31.1° to 31.6s C (8K° to 89° F) range. Hypothermia can he treated by warming all IV and other fluids and by using blankets and covers to raise the patient’s core tem¬perature.
